New dialogue format with civil society is being established for monitoring Rural Development Policy implementation

Inter-Agency Coordination Council for Rural Development (IACC) aimed at facilitating the implementation of the Rural Development Strategy of Georgia for the 2021-2027 period, including, providing the arena for consultation and cooperation with the rural stakeholders, during the strategy implementations stage.
 
To accelerate Rural Development and to ensure its policy alignment with European Union Policy Frameworks on Rural Development, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia is implementing institutional reforms with the assistance of the European Union (EU-ENPARD) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Policy reforms aim to respond to the most pressing challenges facing rural and to leverage the rural potential, namely, by safeguarding inclusive engagement of Rural Stakeholders and ensuring openness.
 
Following the IACC charter, Civic Committee is being established with the objectives to ensure the engagement of the diverse stakeholders in rural policy delivery and monitoring in relevance to the EU member state practice. 
 
As the consultative body, the Civic Committee will review and discuss the progress of the Rural Development strategy and programmes and provide recommendations on possible improvements. The Committee will contribute to the identification of issues, needs relevant to the Rural Development programmes and providing evidence-based analysis in support of the decision-making process. The Committee will also elaborate recommendations and proposals to maximise the efficiency of the measures planned under the Agriculture and Rural Development strategy and action Plan.
 
Membership of the Civic Committee is open to professional associations and civil organisations/groups of organisations working on agriculture and rural development issues across the country.
