We celebrate Farmer's Day on November 20

Otar Shamugia delivered opening remarks at the "Farmer's Day 2022" award ceremony.

“Farmers of the Year” revealed winners for 12 nominations (Young Farmer of the Year, Female Farmer of the Year, Male Farmer of the Year, Innovative Farmer of the Year, Farmer–Exporter of the Year, farmer Continues Education, Discovery Farmer of the Year, Farmer is Returning to the Region, Organic Farmer of the Year, Conventional Farmer of the Year, Fruit of Heroes). The winners were given diplomas and awards for special achievements.

Farmers participating in the competition were selected by the representatives of the Rural Development Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and the Georgian Farmers' Association, taking into account the relevant criteria.

The winner was randomly selected from 3 nominees submitted for each nomination (36 farmers in 12 nominations in total).

At the end of the awarding ceremony, the tasting event was held.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and the Georgian Farmers' Association, in partnership with the European Union (EU), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the agricultural program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The representatives of the Parliament of Georgia, the Government, as well as the US Ambassador to Georgia Mrs. Kelly Degnan, representatives of the diplomatic corps, international donor organizations, and industry associations, attended the event together with farmers.

At the initiative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, National Farmer’s Day has been annually celebrated in Georgia on November 20 since 2015.
 
As part of Farmer's Day, the exhibition of Georgian agricultural products was held at the exhibition center "Expo Georgia" (6th pavilion).
